1 year of blogging in the Australian Bush ...

WOW ... i just realised tonight that it's been a YEAR that i've been blogging and have had 5598 visitors to my blog!  (well that's what the Clustrmaps says...)

that's such a wonderful feeling!!! thank you to all who have ever visited ... left comments ... or even dropped in by accident!

I was told blogging would be great for my Etsy and Madeit Stores, but I have to say most of the time, I just love to blog about other people, artists, ideas, pictures and places and then think ... oh yeah... put some of my stuff on here again!

I live in a very remote part of Australia with my fab husband and 4 children ... homeschool (with the help of a wonderful girl) ... do officework for our cattle business ... cook ... clean ... garden ... and love to make mosaics and shabby chic things in my spare time at night or weekends for relaxation (and sanity)!   Living where we do has it's challenges, but I've come to learn that if you're with people you love, it doesn't matter where you live and you just make things work the best you can.

I've also come to know a lot of wonderful people online through facebook, blogging, Etsy, not to mention my beloved Dust team and while I don't get to read everyone's blog as often as I'd like, I do get inspired from you all as well.

Here's to another fun year of blogging, creating and connecting with you all xxx

Christopher Patrick Ernst ... Landscape Wallpapers ...

Yet another fabulous discovery girls and boys ...  while flicking through one of the latest fashion mags at my hairdressers recently I came across this cool artist and his Wallpaper range... LOVE it!

Found in business and public interiors, these large scale, scenic and often vivid wallpapers create an awkward but profound contrast against what is in front of them, usually furniture and appliances that are commonly seen in cafes, waiting rooms, laundromats and diners. The quiet images really bring out the juxtaposition, but what you make of it, according to Ernst, is all up to you:
This group of images are selections from a body of work that spans the past year and a half. I set my focus on the interiors of businesses and public spaces that featured a specific type of mural wallpaper. My goal was to simply show these surreal interiors exactly how they exist, without judgement or comment.

mothers day

Wonderful Sunday ...  It's Mothers Day again and this morning I got a great present...  a SLEEP IN  ~  yay !!  Our kids all made me a lovely card and have picked some flowers so what more could I ask for?

I've been a bit distracted this week ... have been organizing and packing for our week long school seminar that starts on Tuesday in Mt Isa.  That's a 5 hour drive for us,  so if you're having a bad day tomorrow, think of me with 4 kids on a road trip!  I'm sure we'll survive but it will certainly be nice when we arrive at our motel.  It's about the second time this year the kids get to see their friends so they're all very excited.

I'm hoping to pick up more good tips about how to teach your children  as well as have a catch up with my friends and maybe sell some mosaics and shabby chic pieces out of my store.  A few of us 'mums' are crafty and bring along our wares for the others to see (and purchase).

Just imagine ... I'll get to have a latte sometime this week - wahoo!!!  enjoy your week  x
