a project from Pinterest ...

Who does Pinterest ???

I do ... a LOT ...  It's so addictive and I love it.  So much fun finding inspiration, as well as cool ideas for projects ... although sometimes I find it akin to collecting recipes and never getting around to cooking them ...

... however ... today,  I can show you that I have actually done a project from my Projects board on Pinterest ... and I'm thrilled !

find yourself a BIG jar with a screwtop lid

type up the words and then cut them and soak the paper in tea for the 'vintage' look ...

then ... put your treasures in it !  ... this is a "2 inches of rain" present - {we need rain each wet season for the cattle property!}

snuggle request ...

old cards ...

people without arms or necks ...

that's actually me in my white nightie ...

these are rose coloured glasses ...

keeping anything hubby writes to me!!!

more love cards from the kids ...

coupon voucher on mother's day

... with vouchers I still need to CASH IN !!!

yes ... one day ...

and a Luxury card ! - ask for and you will receive ...

fabulous concert with my better half a few years ago now !!!

and an amazing hand made pot with flowers which also came with it's own hand made gift  box !!! gorgeous ♥

I know I've be filling it up for years to come -  but it's so great to finally have finished it.  I look at it every day when I walk past the office.

here's the ORIGINAL pin where the inspiration came from !  cool huh?

McKinlay Post Office - Shop (for Winter Months) is OPEN !

For all of you who aren't sure .... McKinlay is a tiny town in North West Queensland (Australia) and is on the Landsborouh Highway.

... okay so this was taken in 1962, but you get the general idea ... very small town and very quaint ...

 It's also the home of the Walkabout Creek Pub - made famous by the Crocodile Dundee movie ...

... and ... where I took a mosaic workshop last year !  click here ...

...  we live about 3 hrs away by car and 1/2 hr by plane ... Yesterday I was lucky enough to talk my  husband into flying us (kids and myself) down there for the day so I could do a day of volunteering for this latest Community Project.

The local ladies have transformed the front section of the Old Post Office (opposite the McKinlay Roadhouse) and filled it with wonderful craft items created by the hugely talented locals.

During the Winter months - {which is the high season out here for tourists} - all the items will be on sale until the end of September.

Depending on the availablility of the local volunteers, the store will be open most days from  10 am - 2pm. {Definite days are Wednesdays and Thursdays as well as most weekends and we're currently working to have the other days covered, so stop just in case !}

I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking.  So,  if you're travelling through, make sure and pop in for a look!

...If you're too far away but still interested in purchasing anything you see on the tables, please contact me and I can steer you in the right direction.  This post office doesn't operate any more, but we can certainly find one that does!

valentines day ... big love

i don't purposely go around making items for 'Valentines Day' in my store, but i do seem to lean towards making things that involve hearts, prettiness and pink...

my husband actually said once ... "I don't need someone telling me there has to be one special day when I should be romantic and nice to my wife" ... awww... (blushing)

we don't live anywhere near shops and in our nearest town (100km away) there is NO florist - actually you have to drive for about 7 hrs East, or 5 hours West before you get to a florist... so every now and then he surprises me with something that's growing 'out in the paddock'...  not often enough I say!

anyway, here are a some goodies in my store that could definitely be a lovely 'valentine' if you do like to make the day special ... now if only I could grow me some peonies... or lisianthus... sigh ...

enjoy ~
