Mosaic Chair Project

On the way back from Mt Isa the other day, I finally managed to stop and have a good look at the mosaic chair, that the local Julia Creek Arts Council ladies (including yours truly) all contributed towards making under the professional guidance of the lovely and amazing mosaic artist Claudia Williams.

We started the project in mid 2010 and it was finished in May this year.  Our extended wet season and everyone's busy schedules delayed finishing the chair, but the result is fantastic.  My only regret is that I couldn't get to town on the last few workshops to help (mostly due to ill children and our road being impassable due to the wet weather).

The design was inspired by the "Flinders Poppy" - a wildflower that grows in our Shire in the toughest conditions.

Mothers Day

Have spent the last few days packing, finishing office work and making 'to do' lists in readiness for our big trip to Mt Isa.

We're off to the annual Home Tutor Seminar organized by our school.  We're just one of the families living in the Australian outback who home school.  All our kids will get to spend 3 days with their friends (that they hardly ever see) and teachers doing school and fun activities.  The rest of us (mums, home tutors and governesses) spend our the days attending organized workshops which usually result in great ideas on how to 'educate your children' and hopefully squeeze in a bit of socialising too.

After the sports day on Friday, we all start the long drive home tired, but so glad we did it (for the kids).

... So ... before we go ... it's Mother's Day on Sunday and we don't really make a big deal of it, but I'm expecting/hoping our 4 fab children will draw me some masterpieces to hang on my office wall, or a bunch of flowers from our garden.

.. and a few more lovely finds below to enjoy Mothers Day with a cuppa ....

Happily ever after...

I'm not really a huge follower of the Royal Family, but I've got to admit I've been really looking forward to the wedding of the gorgeous Kate Middleton to Prince William.

There seems to be so much bad, bad, bad news in the world all the time.  The media constantly feed us with everything that's going wrong and finally there's something lovely taking place.

I know it's so far removed from most of our lives, but to watch all the splendour of the occasion and see the happy couple in their fairytale carriage was just wonderful ~ good luck to them both.

They provided the inspiration for my pics tonight ...

Easter Celebrations

Had any chocolate yet???        Well I hope not because it's not time yet  ... must wait until Sunday...

I will admit to treating myself to the odd hot cross bun and don't even feel guilty... that's probably coming later.

Anyway, I'm enjoying the last couple of days until our home schooling starts again on Wednesday and trying to squeeze in some creative things between here and there.

My studio has become messy again, so that means I'm creating - which is a good thing.

Here's a few fun things I found on Etsy for Easter Celebrations...

How to make a Hanging Notepad

Wow - I just found this little article on the Etsy blog and thought I'd share it with you.

Just click on the link above the picture and away you go!

I've been wanting to make one of these for years and just never got there.

I have to admit it ...   I am a 'listoholic' ... It's the ONLY way I can get things done...

So now with guidance from the Etsy team we can all make something artistic to leave in the Studio, Office or Kitchen where most work is done...

Would  love to see yours if you do one too!!! Let me know!
