... i don't like regrets ... and for sure don't want to go back to the past ... but i definitely have feelings of nostalgia from time to time.
i love that feeling ...

Andrew Atroshenko - Artist
Today I discovered these amazing paintings by Andrew Atroshenko while I was on Pinterest.

I just HAD to show you ... isn't his style just to die for?

Andrew Atroshenko was born in 1965 in the city of Pokrovsk,
Russia. Accepted as a gifted child in 1977 into the Children’s
Art School, Andrew graduated with honors in 1981.
Two years later, Andrew entered Bryansk Art College,
and in 1991 was accepted at one of the most prestigious art schools
in the world, the St. Petersburg Academy of Art.
In 1994, Andrew began taking part in exhibitions such
as St. Petersburg Artists in Reutlingen, Germany, the exhibition of
a group “Academy” in St. Petersburg (1996), and “Teacher’s
memory” (1997).
After graduation from St. Petersburg Academy of Art
in 1999, Andrew was invited by a New England, US based art group “Bay
Arts” to take part in their exhibitions and activities, spending
that entire year in the United States into the Millennium.
According to Andrew, “This year in America gave
me more as an artist then all eight years of my formal studies in
the prestigious Russian academies. I am a descendent of farmers, and
I was impressed by the New England’s landscapes, and how a man
in America avoids harming its environment. After seeing Royo and Pino
at Artexpo New York 2000, I suddenly realized what direction I want
to take my art in. After staying for a year in the United States,
I spent two years in Russia perfecting my art.
While Andrew’s work was being sold successfully
in galleries across Florida, California, Ohio and Arizona, the artist
was taking part in a variety of group exhibitions and auctions in
France, which resulted in all of his work being sold out.
Since 2000, Andrew has worked with dealers from Western
Europe and the US, exhibiting and selling his paintings in such US
cities as Carmel , Scottsdale, Palm Desert, Las Vegas & Hawaii.
Two of Andrew’s pieces were also auctioned off by Sotheby’s
in 2002 and 2003.
In 1992 Andrew married a fellow student, Maria, who
is now an art critic in St Petersburg, Russia, and has a daughter
named Alexandra. Like many artists, Andrew has his artistic references
and influences, but his wife and daughter are the inspiration for
his passion.
I just HAD to show you ... isn't his style just to die for?

Christmas Spirit ...
... are you in the Christmas spirit yet ???
got your decorations up ?
food prepared ???
or still tearing your hair out trying to work out what Miss 5 or Master 19 wants for Christmas ???
not to mention the screaming crowds at the shopping malls.
Suddenly Christmas shopping has become the new 'bloodsport'.
~ try and take some time out to relax this season
- turn off your mobile and find a peaceful place to relax with the family
- enjoy your children,
friends,
and family this Christmas Season ~
ps. make sure you get yourself something perfect just in case 'he' forgets what you like the most ... (because men do tend to forget ...)
... and most of all have a lovely Christmas ... wherever you are

Featuring ... La petite boutique de perles
It's getting close to Christmas ... everyone is soooo busy! I still have a tonne of things to do but really wanted to feature my online friend, fellow Etsian and Kris (who also happens to love all things French!) Kris is the most wonderful 'blog comment leaver' ! I always know that in 'cyberworld if no-one else is reading my posts, Kris is because she's always leaving me lovely comments. xx

Bonjour Everyone,
My name is Kris and I opened my Etsy shop, La petiteboutique de perles in June of 2011. I am a lover all things French and
wanted to sell handmade items that had a french farmhouse and farmhouse chic
look. I am always on the hunt to find fabrics that are natural i.e.
cottons, linen's, muslin and patterns that are unique to make my items and like
the "less is more" or simple design styles. I also try to make
one of a kind items that aren't duplicated unless specified by the purchaser. I
also do reserve listings on the items I sell if you should want more than one
of the items I make.
french inspired le coq tea towel - i LOVE this |
The idea for the name of my shop came from a blue pearl that
I was given in Hawaii. La petite boutique de perles is the french
translation for The Little Shop of Pearls. The history of pearls is
an interesting one and in part explains why I decided to use the word pearls in
the name of my new shop.

Perles are formed within the soft tissue of a living shelled
mollusk and is made up of calcium carbonate in minute crystalline form, which
has been deposited in concentric layers. It is hard to find a perfect pearl and
no one pearl has exactly the same form, just as each item that is handmade is
not the same. There is something perfect in things that are not perfect, with
each item being unique, and surprisingly different each time it is made.

Interestingly enough, the word pearl was borrowed from the
french word perle and my love for all things French is why I choose the name La
petite boutique de perles.

I am always looking for new ideas and products that I can
introduce to the buyers in my shop. I hope that you will drop by for a
