i think it started in my early 'teens' when i saw a poster of him and I thought 'WOW'... then started collecting all things James Dean. thnking back, it must have been quite a cause for concern for my parents - idolising someone who wasn't even alive, but he was just so cool, mysterious - not to mention good looking - everything teenagers are all about...
he only made a few films and then died in a car crash - so tragic, but what a Legend he became... i couldn't even imagine him as an old man and secretly, I don't want to ... i think it's the idea of his eternal youth that makes him so special.
eventually i got over him and just gave all my fabulous laminated posters away as well as the watches, pencil cases and whatever other memorabilia i had collected...
i just saw a photo of him on Pinterest the other day and thought - WOW - (again) ... James Dean ... i can't believe i had almost forgotten about him ...what a lovely memory of my youth.
