... okay so this was taken in 1962, but you get the general idea ... very small town and very quaint ... |
It's also the home of the Walkabout Creek Pub - made famous by the Crocodile Dundee movie ...
... and ... where I took a mosaic workshop last year ! click here ...
... we live about 3 hrs away by car and 1/2 hr by plane ... Yesterday I was lucky enough to talk my husband into flying us (kids and myself) down there for the day so I could do a day of volunteering for this latest Community Project.
The local ladies have transformed the front section of the Old Post Office (opposite the McKinlay Roadhouse) and filled it with wonderful craft items created by the hugely talented locals.
During the Winter months - {which is the high season out here for tourists} - all the items will be on sale until the end of September.
Depending on the availablility of the local volunteers, the store will be open most days from 10 am - 2pm. {Definite days are Wednesdays and Thursdays as well as most weekends and we're currently working to have the other days covered, so stop just in case !}
I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking. So, if you're travelling through, make sure and pop in for a look!
...If you're too far away but still interested in purchasing anything you see on the tables, please contact me and I can steer you in the right direction. This post office doesn't operate any more, but we can certainly find one that does!
